Monica Ryska

“Prior to joining the ESBM, Monica had graduated BSc in Psychology and MA in Education (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages).

She helped international students at De Montfort University to achieve their academic goals and adapt to change.

“I have worked with ESBM since 2019 and I am glad to say that it is a school with excellent teachers who give students every opportunity to reach their potential. Our learning activities are tailored to developing our students and give them the skills to achieve their ambitions”.

Ella Doran

Assistant Director of Studies

“I graduated with a strong academic foundation from Edinburgh University and completed a Cambridge accredited CELTA course at Leicester University. I’ve had the incredible experience of teaching English in Spain and Portugal, as well as teaching many different nationalities here in the UK.

For the past few years, I’ve been working at ESBM, where I teach various levels including pre-sessional. The school is a warm, friendly place, and I truly enjoy being part of such a welcoming environment, working alongside some amazing teachers and staff.”

John MacArthur

Director of Studies

“I graduated from Glasgow Caledonian University with a degree in Chemistry and IT, and then I achieved a Postgraduate Diploma from University of Stirling in Technology Management. I worked in technical sales and recruitment for many years before changing careers.

I gained the CELTA in 2001 before becoming an IELTS examiner. I obtained the Cambridge DELTA with a specialism in Examinations classes at Merit level. I have worked in various locations around the world and in the UK tertiary education system for many years. I joined ESBM as Director of Studies in 2025 to bring my extensive experience to a supporting learning environment like ESBM. “
